Policies overview

Our policies

We have a broad set of various policies in place to guide us in our sustainability work. These group-wide policies complement our strong corporate values, which state that we want to act sustainably in everything we do.

Animal Welfare Policy
Our Animal Welfare Policy outlines our responsibility to secure our supply of raw materials from an animal welfare perspective through tough requirements and full traceability.

Harassment Policy
All of H&M’s employees are entitled to respectful treatment in the workplace. A respectful workplace is about more than compliance with the law.

Human Rights Policy
H&M’s approach to human rights is based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the recognition that while states have a duty to protect human rights, companies have a responsibility to respect the same.

Material Ethics Policy
Our Material Ethics Policy outlines our responsibility to ensure that the natural raw materials we use in our products are made in a way that preserve natural resources, help maintain biodiversity, contribute to sustainable development and respect human rights.

Position statement on the Human Right to Water and Sanitation
Access to clean water and sanitation are basic human rights, yet millions of people on our planet lack this access. We have published a position statement on the human right to water and sanitation to make it clear where we stand today and how we want to develop our work in the future.
