At H&M, we have set ourselves the challenge of ultimately making fashion sustainable and sustainability fashionable.
Karl-Johan Persson, CEO
The trend of sustainable, environmentally friendly and ethical products is constantly growing. Not the least in the fashion industry. This opens opportunities to further strengthen our customer offering by adding sustainability value to our products. We want to make sure our customers are proud of what they wear and our colleagues around the world to feel proud of where they work.
Our planet is facing scarcity issues on many fronts and far too many people live in poverty. Clean water, climate change, textile waste and wages and overtime in supplier factories are some of the key challenges in our industry.
We want to use our scale to bring about systemic change to our industry and across our entire value chain. Together with our colleagues, customers, stakeholders, business partners and peers, we have the opportunity to truly make a difference – all the way from improving the livelihood of a cotton farmer to lowering the climate impact from washing and drying our clothes.
For us, sustainability is a word of action. A mission that is built on passion, long-term thinking and teamwork. Everything we do needs to be economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. All highly interconnected. All equally important for our future growth.
This is why we have created H&M Conscious. With seven commitments at heart, Conscious is the name for everything we do for a more sustainable fashion future. Hundreds of Conscious Actions – big and small, short- and long-term – are dedicated each year to make sure these commitments are put into practice. Our Conscious fashion collection is just one of the many examples of what we do for a more sustainable fashion future.
